Can you have "Do over Weekends?"
Well....I could have used one this past weekend....Oh it started off okay...but then went down hill on Sunday.....
Friday night was pretty much uneventfull as it's our "Sci Fi" Night (Star Trek, Stargate-you get the picture)...Saturday....we had Glen's 8th B-day party and I was so proud of my self for being a good girl and not overdoing it in the eating department....And that's hard to do with Mike's sister's special Chili Cheese dip! I had to laugh as his little freind Annie (his quote/unquote "Girlfriend") came and after having a blast with Glen at the party promptly announces to her Mom and I that she and Glen are going to get married! (but she at least agreed to wait until AFTER college!) It was sooooo cute....so was the smooch on his cheek that made him beam side to side....Glen has talked about her for the past 2 years.....Annie this and Annie that...just so adorable!
That brings us to Sunday......This is the day I really wish I could "Do Over"...See I had told the kids about the Black and White photos I was going to take.....I told them that we were going to the beach in the am....They were all wearing blue jeans and bright shirts...I told them that they were only to play in the sand...NOT in the water....Hunt shells and all that....I repeated this to them 4 more times (probably more)....
We get to the inlet and what do you think they did? Yup.....headlong into the water...the COLD water.....Manisa said I looked like I was going to strangle someone....I mean these kids are 8,10 and 12.....each one apparently had a hearing problem that day....or memory one....not sure which...I snapped of the roll of film and wondered mildly how to get soaked kids home in my car as I didn't bring towels as they weren't going to be in the water supposedly! Oh and they asked for one when we got going home...I asked them what was the one thing they weren't supposed to do...."Go into the water" and what was the one thing they did? "go into the water" They whined about being cold to which I replied...."Well if you all had LISTENED to me about going into the water in the first place...then you all wouldn't be cold now would you?"
But that's not all folks....as I am explaining all this to the kids as we are driving home....I am apparently driving a week bit over the limit and get pulled over by the cop...As soon as I saw him I glanced down at my speedometer which registered 40mph, thought I didn't know exactly what the limit was in that area...I pulled over.....He said that I was going 46 miles an hour in a 35 zone...I give him my license and registration....He comes back with a ticket for $80.00....He only wrote me up for going 9 miles over other wise it would have been $155....YIKES! He also tells me that while I had changed the address on my license I had not changed my registration....and promptly tells me that he could have written me up for that as well...it would have been a HUGE fine plus a court date (don't ask me why) but he opted not to as I had kids in the car (again there really wasn't any logic there either) So needless to say I was not in a good mood......I had some explaining to do with Michael as to why I had soaking wet kids in the car....I basically told him that it had to do with our anniversary but he couldn't know......Told him about the ticket and that I was going to go lay down til I am no longer ready to choke someone....I could hear him downstairs telling the kids (They wanted me for something or other) that it would be in thier best interests to leave me alone for a while.....I had a chuckle at that one......
Let's just hope the pictures I was able to take came out decent enough...Keep your finger's crossed! Then the aggravation would have been worth it!!!!!
Take care all and hope you guys had a better weekend than I did!

I have always found that the more I tell my kids NOT to do something, the more rapidly they ignore me. Make you wonder:"why bother?" I hope the pics come out though!
I tell and tell my girl that she should not do that...she does and then asks why I "let" her do that! Most frustrating.
